Touhou Project: Izayoi Sakuya

unknown cosplay 033 from comiket 2009 - touhou project cosplay - izayoi sakuyaThere's always a fair amount of French Maid cosplays in Anime Conventions that I find it hard trying to keep up with all of them.

She looks like she's cosplaying a specific character with the details she put into her hair and the straps on her leg. I'm wondering if that clip on her apron was also done on purpose. Compared to the other French maid cosplayer I feature a while back, I think she'll be easier to guess.

Any takers?

EDIT: Thanks to anonymous for leaving a comment saying this is Izayoi Sakuya of Touhou Project! I hope people leave their names next time, though.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Soryu Asuka Langley 02

neon genesis evangelion cosplay - soryu asuka langley 02Born and raised in Germany, Soryu Asuka Langley is said to be a half-Japanese, half-German girl, but her nationality is technically American. She is considered to be a child prodigy, earning a University degree when she is still a teenager and easily becoming fluent in Japanese. She is European in appearance thanks to her father's lineage.

Comiket sure has a lot of great cosplayers. Cosplay Holic reader Mikan gave me a link to Moeyo showing a vast collection of different cosplayers she thought I might like to feature. This Asuka is definitely quite amazing. Thanks Mikan! And thanks to Moeyo for the awesome photography!

Evangelion Dance!

Close friends of mine would have been victims of my endless pimping of this video since last september.

Anyway, I can't remember how I found it but this is a freakin good dance cheorography of EVA's classic opening song, Cruel Angel Thesis. I bet they are some semi pro dance group. Otherwise, they couldn't have executed all those straining and extremely difficult kicks and dance steps.

Also, if you haven't already realised. They are all males ;D Ayanami Rei with balls =X

Yu-Gi-Oh!: Dark Magician Girl

yu-gi-oh! cosplay - dark magician girlOne of Yugi’s signature cards in his Magician Deck, the Dark Magician girl is considerably weaker than the Dark Magician. She compensates this by gaining attack points for every Dark magician in the graveyard.

During the “Dawn of the Duel” arc, it is revealed that she is actually the spirit of Mana, a childhood friend of Atem and Mahado. She becomes Mahado’s apprentice and followed in his footsteps, even after death. Just as Mahado’s spirit rose to become the Dark Magician, Mana’s spirit became the Dark Magician Girl.

Beautiful cosplay! I found this from Jamaipanese, and it was taken during the Tokyo Game Show in 2008. Thank you very much for sharing this photo!

Tsubasa - Reservoir Chronicle: Sakura 02

tsubasa - reservoir chronicle cosplay - sakura 02

Sakura, the Princess of Clow Kingdom, lost her powers and her memories because of a powerful force, causing her to be weak and confused. Her memories take the form of feathers scattered in different dimensions which she and Syaoran must collect in order to return Sakura back to normal.

Ichihara Yuuko aids them by giving her Mokona, in exchange for her memories of Syaoran. Yuuko calls her "a favored daughter of the gods" due to her unbelievable good luck.

Another beautiful cosplayer from Comiket! Unfortunately, we can't see her face clearly, but the photography is still superb. Wonderful job to both the cosplayer and the photographer!

EDIT: Thanks to the cosplayer, Kashino Rei, for contacting me! Apparently, this is not from Comiket, but rather in Hanami, an event in Germany! You may view the original image in her Deviant Art account!

Blizzcon Cosplay!

Well, Blizzcon 2009 was absolutely amazing. It's completely different from an anime con, and was twice as big as the biggest con I've been to!

I'm just going to focus on cosplay in this particular post, though as you might imagine, I have a lot to say about the rest of the con, as well. Going there was an absolute dream.

I have to admit, it was very difficult seeing all of the amazing costumes, because as I've mentioned many times before, I want to do WoW cosplay very badly. However, I had several very nice conversations with some of the people in the amazing costumes, so I picked up some good tips for when I start on mine! I mostly asked about armour making, as I've heard of so many ways to do it. Wonderflex was involved on everyone I spoke to (except one person, whose friends made his armour out of REAL LEATHER. Crap.), as I assumed, but the rest was varied.

The priest (first photo) used Model Magic on top of his armor, much to my noticeable surprise. I have heard of people making things with it, but it has some issues... it shrinks a lot, for one, and can be dented during various stages. He wasn't surprised at me being skeptical, so he went on to explain that it works very well and is nice and lightweight, you just have to remember to account for the shrinking when making the pieces. I'm now confident that if I do experiments to see how much it shrinks in different situations, I could form some pretty intricate pieces with it.

A girl dressed as a... which doctor? Shaman? From Diablo 3 told me that most of her stuff was made out of Sculpey, which surprised me even more than the Model Magic guy. Almost as if reading my mind, she said that it of course is very fragile, and she has to be extremely careful not to break it. She also used the much talked about Wonderflex/Friendly Plastic combo. She also used Bondo for a few things, and I asked her how easy it was to work with. She said don't use it on things that bend, which I pretty much figured. She also had a very cool system of LED lights embedded into cast resin jewels all over her armor. She explained that all of the wires were hidden in the cloth, and they were all powered by D batteries disguised in a scroll case! That was a great idea. I regret not taking a photo of her, but she was in the costume contest, so I'm sure there are many photos of her on the internet.

Kael'thas (second photo) is the guy who was wearing a costume made by two friends; one did the armor, the other the sewing. The armor was all hand-tooled leather, and was very impressive. Leather working is an in-game skill I have that I've always wanted to learn to do in real life. Hopefully some day I will. Anyway, he was very nice, and enjoyed doing Kael'thas's voice, which was fun.

I didn't get to talk to the Draenei Shaman (third photo) about his armor, but I thought it looked very cool. The LEDs gave a nice effect because the whole con was so dark. I wasn't so sure about the scale of his mace, but everything looked really great. You could tell he spent a great deal of time on it. I was also just happy to see a draenei male! More beard tentacles next time, man. Beard tentacles.

The costume contest was great fun to watch. I didn't have good seats, so I have no photos from it. It should be easy to find on the internet. The girl who won had a very intricate and amazing costume and, almost as importantly, was in character all the time! I saw her several times throughout the con, including on stage, and she was always acting her part. Congrats to her for all of her efforts.

Overall, there weren't many people walking around on the floor in costume, and I could see why. Most of the costumes were big and bulky, and the convention was completely packed and difficult enough to navigate in normal clothes. But... I'm going to try to do it anyway! Here's hoping I can get tickets next year.

Sailor Moon Musicals: Sailor Uranus, Sailor Pluto, and Sailor Neptune

sailor moon musical cosplay - sailor uranus, sailor pluto, and sailor neptuneAlso known as the “Outer Senshi”, Sailor Uranus, Sailor Pluto, and Sailor Neptune form a secondary group, along with Sailor Saturn. Previously, all of them preferred to work alone, but Sailor Uranus was able to trust Sailor Neptune and Sailor Pluto after fighting along side with them.

Sailor Pluto is known as the Guardian of Time, while Sailor Neptune is the Soldier of Ocean, and Sailor Uranus is the Soldier of the Sky.

I’m not even sure if they are cosplayers or the official cast of the musical, but they are very pretty. Thanks to Soyoungim for the photo!

Cosplay MTVS: Suzumiya Vs Final Fantasy 3 !

Okay, very confusing title xD. Anyway, cause I was on the topic of Cosplay MTV previously....I just thought I'd take the chance to pimp embarrass share some of the substandard cosplay videos I did with some friends during our Photoshoot or events.

The video quality is shit but...enjoy( > x < )!!!!

Cosplay MTVs

It's all the trend now isn't it? A couple of friends and I am had this idea of doing some cosplay videos since god know when but we never got around to doing it =( I blame life, time and money =(

Anyway, with the advancement of technology made more accessible to everyone these days. Fan Cosplay MTVs are popping up everywhere and constantly making my gawk at the quality of it.

Let me introduce to you peeps some cream of the crop =)

These two are really cute aren't they =3? And their photo quality are so good T_T

The special effects blew me away. Especially as an amateur video maker like myself, I understand the difficulty of creating those. I seriously need to buck up my skills=_=

ARGH! *claws blackboard* Canon EOS D5 Mark II HD EF24mm 1.4L !!! SUPER CLEAR QUALITY !!!!
I . WANT. IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn!

On a totally different note, there's been a lot of rumour that the taller Miku in this video is actually a MALE. CAn anyone verify that D:?

Gundam, on our planet.

OH.MY.GOD.

I've heard of it but seeing IS believing! Look at the perfectness of it!

The lights emitted from the suit, the smoke gushing out from the vents, the head moving almost humanly along with the surreal music and sound effects. AHHHHHHHHHhhhhh~~~~~~

I'm not exactly a gundam fan (in the making though ahhaa =X) but this video moves me so much I'm actually having some teeny weeny goosebumps! I wish I can be there to see it !!!!!!

This is a full size 18meter Gundam statute at Tokyo's Odaiba Island. Some extract information from AnimeNewsNetwork.

"The statue will be free for viewing, but it will only stay up for two months. It will be built with fiberglass-reinforced plastic over a steel frame so it can be disassembled later. The head unit will move and the body will have 50 points that will emit light. Mist can shoot forth from 14 locations on the body. The park is just four trains stops from Tokyo Big Sight, the home of the Comic Market dōjinshi convention and the Gundam Big Expo convention that will be held from August 21 to August 23. Bandai NAMCO Group is still determining what to do with the statue after its allotted two months in the park are over."

If they decide to thrash the Gundam before majority of the fans see it in its full glory I'm gonna kick them in the eye (don't ask me how I'm gonna do that -_-;;; ). But high likely they will shift it over to some other exhibition area =D Unless some big guy up there screws up big time. I can't imagine them disposing something so costly LOL.

Nombre: Angela Retamales

Nick: Hina

Nacionalidad: Chilena

Edad: 24

Ocupación: Estudiante de enfermería universitaria

Fecha de Cumpleaños: 31 de mayo

Estatura: 1, 62

Colores favoritos: Morado, negro, fucsia...

Manga Favorito: Naruto

Artistas favoritos: Johnny Depp, Jackie Chan, Jet Li y Morgan Freeman.

¿Cuántos cosplays has hecho?

¿Has hecho algún cosplay en grupo?

Gracias Hina : D
